Prelude Strings
9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
         

This is the first ensemble experience for many string students. The group studies and performs literature designed to introduce orchestral technique and enjoyment. It is a specialized program in which students receive group and individual instruction that provides important basic training for further ensemble experience. The conductor for this group is Quyen Nguyen.

Intermezzo Strings
11 a.m. - 12 p.m.      
Intermezzo Strings furthers the ensemble experience for students who have progressed in their fundamental playing skills and have demonstrated the ability to perform at a more advanced level. Members of Prelude Strings are selected by the conductor for membership in Intermezzo Strings. Students are given the opportunity to perform a more challenging repertoire which will prepare them to progress to the Intermediate Strings ensemble.  The conductor of this group is Quyen Nguyen.
Intermediate Strings
9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

This string ensemble studies and performs standard string literature and arrangements written especially for the intermediate level. At this stage, the string students have diversified further with their instruments, allowing a broader range of sounds, including all standard strings, including viola, cello and string bass often not found on a primary level. Students progress in technique, reading, and musicianship, allowing these intermediate levels to provide the stepping stones between primary and advanced ensembles. The conductor for this group is Ted Foster

Chamber Strings
11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The Chamber Strings is an advanced string ensemble studying and performing traditional chamber music. Advanced members of Intermediate Strings are selected by the conductor for membership in Chamber Strings. Students are also given the opportunity to study and perform concerti, furthering their ensemble experience. The training and experience provided in Chamber Strings enables its members to progress to the Symphonic Orchestra. The conductor for this group is Ted Foster

Wind Ensemble
10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The Wind Ensemble is designed for beginning level wind, brass and percussion students, to introduce them to orchestral techniques. They perform standard orchestral literature as well as arrangements specifically for wind groups. This ensemble allows the students to develop concert skills, improve the reading levels and techniques to progress on to advanced symphonic music. The conductor for this group is Jonathan Ingber.

Rehearsal Schedule for Symphonic and Wind Ensemble

8:50-9:00 Symphonic winds, brass, percussion take seats in Wind rehearsal room and Symphonic strings take seats in Symphonic rehearsal room.

9:00-9:50 Symphonic winds, brass, percussion sectional with Mr. Ingber and Symphonic strings sectional with Mrs. Dreiling.

9:50-10:00 Wind Ensemble players take seats in Wind room.

10:00-10:30 Combined rehearsal (Wind Ensemble w/Symphonic W/B/P.

10:30-10:40 break (Symphonic all return to Symphonic rehearsal room).

10:40-noon Wind rehearsal only in Wind room and full Symphonic rehearsal in Symphonic room.

Symphonic Orchestra
9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
         

The Symphonic Orchestra is a full orchestra, combining all the instruments of the string, winds, brass, and percussion families. This advanced level orchestra is for students who have progressed beyond the intermediate levels and includes specialized string and brass/woodwind/percussion coaching sectionals every week. The literature performed is classical. The conductor for this  group is Alyze Dreiling. 

Symphony Orchestra
9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
         

The Symphony Orchestra is a highly advanced full orchestra, having the complete range of instruments, including all strings, winds, brass, and percussion. The literature performed is well-known symphony music as it was originally composed and provides a challenge for its talented musicians. The Symphony Orchestra provides experience in the rehearsal and performance of symphonies, overtures, concerti and other appropriate literature, and has a very extensive performance schedule throughout the year. The conductor for this group is Robert Gilson.
